Rebecca Perry Brown affectionately known by her family and friends as “Beck” crossed over into eternal life surrounded by her loving husband Lawrence Brown Sr. of 62 years and children on Friday October 6, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 21, 2023, at 11:00AM at Saint James House of Prayer 2775 Celery Avenue. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery Sanford. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM at Morning Glory Missionary Baptist Church 2600 FL-46 Sanford, Florida. She was born on November 13, 1942 in 1942 in Tampa, Florida to willie and Harriett Perry and at an early age, her parents moved to Sanford, Florida and settled in the community of Midway where she attended Midway Elementary and Crooms High School and later along with her husband Lawrence Brown Sr. raised their six children. Rebecca, who came from a structured background where both mother and father were visible in the home built around principles, values, and spiritual upbringing, always set examples by instilling the same in her family and associates. She became a Christian, giving her life at an early age and served as a member of Morning Glory Missionary Baptist Church in Midway for over fifty years. Rebecca was a Deaconess and inherited talent in music gave her the opportunity of performing in church choirs, community groups and singing solo at various functions. She was dedicated to helping her family and others both financially and by offering moral support. No matter what she engaged in, she will be remembered as a trooper, who stood tall in support of her family and friends for generations to come. As a longtime resident of Midway she took part in many community activities which included counseling the youths and working on community ‘s projects. She received recognition as one of the Hometown Folks who continually Were Effective in their community. Upon being recognized Deaconess Rebecca Brown said, “My life has been beautiful, and I know it is a gift from God”. She leaves to cherish in memories her loving husband Lawrence Brown Sr., Sanford, Florida, five daughters, Stephanie W. Boyd, Sanford, Florida, Gloria E. Turner (Andrew), Oviedo, Florida, Tera N. Brown, Sanford, Florida, Joselynne T. Young (Marlow), Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Sherrie L. Brown, Sanford, Florida, five sisters, Luretha Taylor, Sanford, Florida. Shelley Dumas (Rudolph) Oviedo, Florida, Corrie MacAllister (George), Rochester, New York, Cherian Close, Rochester, New York, Addie Rivers (Hercules), Sanford, Florida, one brother, Freddie Perry (Sherry), Rochester, New York, thirteen grandchildren and thirty-five great grandchildren.
