Susan Howard Rae

Susan Howard Rae, 72, died suddenly on March 20, 2024 in Lake Mary, Florida.

Susan was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on November 2, 1951 to Lorraine and Paul Howard.  She grew up in Merrimack and graduated from Merrimack High School.

Susan is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Rae Jr., who died on October 1, 2011.

Susan is survived by her sister, Gini Howard Mayo and brother-in-law Steven Mayo of Merrimack, her niece, the light of her life, Jillian Mayo of Merrimack;  her loving Aunt Phyllis Dugas of Annapolis, Maryland; four stepchildren Cheryl Grijalva and her husband Adam of McCormick, South Carolina; Kathy Owens of Dover, NH; Jeffrey Rae and his wife Tina of Orlando, Florida; Benjamin Rae and his wife Dusty of Bayfield, Colorado; and several cousins. Susan will be forever missed by her family.

After graduating from high school Susan was employed at New England Telephone where she met the love of her life, Thomas Rae. Susan took early retirement and in 1992 she and Tom moved from Londonderry to Florida. Tom worked for AT&T at the time and was able to transfer to Florida and continued to work for several years.

Susan and Tom loved to travel and took numerous vacations and cruises together. Susan loved living in Lake Mary and grew close to many of her neighbors.  After Tom passed away in 2011, life was never the same for Susan.  She will be dearly missed by her neighbors, especially Isabel, Chris, Pat, Joe and Stephanie who were like family to her. Susan also worked as a nanny for several families over the years. She loved the children that she cared for and they loved her and will miss her greatly.

Susan returned to New Hampshire every year for holidays, celebrations and just to spend time with family.

Susan will be laid to rest beside her husband, Tom at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Manchester, New Hampshire.  A Celebration of Life will be held in New Hampshire this summer.
