Dorothy Lowe Brown-Curry, 81, of Sanford, passed away Oct. 3, 2017 in Sanford.

She was born in Port St. Joe and lived in the area for 71 years. She worked as a union representative for Amalgamated National Health Fund. She was also president of Trustee Board, Executive Board Member for Agriculture and Labor, Board of Florida, Member of the Martin Luther King Steering Committee, Board Member of Crooms Academy Alumni Association, The Goldsboro Think Tank, and a volunteer with Central Florida Regional Hospital. She was also a member of Saint Matthew Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sister, Oper Jean Collins of Sanford; niece, Barbara Kirby-Bentley (Kenneth) of Sanford; grandsons, Stephen Ferguson of Atlanta, Ga. and Wilbur Ferguson Jr. of Altamonte Springs; God son and nephew, William Kirby II (Ariel) of Sanford; nieces and nephews, Sa’Mya Kirby, Kaylan Kirby, Jayce Glenn and Chris Glenn, all of Sanford; Godchildren, Cassandra Grayson (John) of Tallahassee, Cynthia Hicks of Sanford, Walter McDonald of Sanford, Judge Debra Roberts of Pasco County, David Roberts of Rochester, N.Y. and the Collins Clan.

Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Saint Matthew Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard L.J. Wilson, Pastor and Eulogist. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.

Wilson-Eichelberger Mortuary, Sanford, is in charge of all arrangements.
