Northland Church holds Large Cookout for Community

Northland Church recently held community cookout. No doubt the last several days have been difficult for the community. With so many still without power, Northland took the opportunity to come together as a community around a free, hot meal. Friends, family, kids and neighbors gathered. Northland also sent people home with a boxed lunch for their neighbors.

Watercolorist Caryn Dahm will demonstrate her unique painting techniques during the next meeting of the Sanford Seminole Art Association. This New Yorker by birth was raised in Florida and attended Ohio State where she studied visual communications. She teaches art and engages an active studio practice whose fruit is often culinary.

Luke Spencer a 7th graders from Seminole Science Charter School was busy participating in trainings for the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, including Basic Training and Honor Guard.

Wildcat, The Seminole, X: It’s not over, until it is over.

The war was over.  Seminoles and blacks in shabby, hungry groups of ten and twenty—in bands of fifty and eighty—arrived in Tampa Bay, on the Gulf of Mexico.  They brought in droves of skinny cattle, and sold them to the government.  With the money from these sales, they went to the government trading post and bought new blankets and new clothes.

Mannie Leroy Clark - “Mannie Boy”

In Memory of Mannie Leroy Clark, who died in the World Trade Center Tragedy on September 11, 2001.  Mannie, son of the late Mr. Mannie and Mrs. Carolyn Clark of Sanford, was born on May 16, 1947.  He graduated from Crooms Academy High School in 1967 and moved to New York City in 1969.
