Hurst Chapel AME Church celebrates 100 Years of service in Orlando's Callahan Neighborhood and welcome Rev. Carshena Baker, the granddaughter of the late Altermese Bentley, as the newly appointed pastor of Hurst Chapel AME Church Orlando.
The church is celebrating 100 years of service this year in the Callahan community and Rev. Baker is carrying on the torch of her grandmother in preserving history.
Hurst Chapel AME Church is proud to announce its centennial celebration, marking 100 years of dedicated service to the Callahan Neighborhood. As a cherished part of Florida’s History and Heritage Trails, we invite the community to join us in commemorating this significant milestone.

The official anniversary festivities kicked off on March 29 with a special program celebrating the Catherine Baity Women’s Missionary Society. Additionally, the Church School Annual Day will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 3 p.m., where attendees are encouraged to wear yellow and white.
The celebrations will include two special services on Sunday, May 31 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
We are honored to welcome Pastor Cornelius Blue of Birthing Place Worship Center as the guest preacher for the afternoon service.
Join us at the Hurst Chapel Cafe on April 25 for an evening of live music featuring Michael Price Sr., as we honor our rich heritage and look forward to a bright future. Doors open at 6 p.m. (Donation $10 in advance $15 at the door). Concessions will be sold by Cora’s Homemade Burgers and Such.
