The DeBary Foundation is pleased to announce the completion of Phase I of the DeBary Elementary School Stairwell Art Project, a school-led initiative that has transformed a high-traffic space into a vibrant and inspiring environment for students. Envisioned and executed by DeBary Elementary’s faculty and leadership, the project reflects the school’s strong commitment to creativity and student engagement. The DeBary Foundation previously announced its funding support for this initiative and is proud to have helped bring the school’s vision to life.

The project was conceived by art teacher Ms. Nancy Hatch and brought to life through the artistic expertise of volunteer artist Ms. Terri Hoag, who also serves as a Foundation volunteer artist / art advisor, and serves as the Director of The Gateway Center for the Arts. The effort has been fully supported by Principal Ms. Stacy Gotlib, whose leadership helped guide the project from concept to completion.

Phase I focused on establishing the artistic design and initial installation within the stairwell. Phase II will expand the project’s impact by inviting 5th grade students to participate, adding their own "hands-on" (truly hands-on, just wait to see) creativity to leave a lasting impression on their school while creating a meaningful tradition for future graduating classes to continue.

“The Foundation is honored to support DeBary Elementary in bringing this vision to life,” said Tony Gilotti, Foundation Secretary. “While the school identified the concept and direction for the stairwell project, we are proud to provide the resources needed to help make it a reality. This project reflects the power of creativity in education and the importance of creating spaces where students feel inspired and connected.”

By funding the DeBary Elementary School Stairwell Project, the Foundation reaffirms its commitment to supporting local schools and initiatives that enrich the educational experience and strengthen the community.
